Practice using Tools and Role Playing for the Follow-Up Conversation

This section is a continuation of the pre-lunch sessions.  In this session, the actual practical skills will be demonstrated by the speakers; in addition, the attendees will be given practice using these tools in a variety of role-play exercises.

2PM – 4PM

Witness Communication Skills in the Deposition and on the Witness Stand (or How to be a Witness and Survive)

This session will focus on explaining, demonstrating and applying those skills which render a witness credible and genuine and, therefore, persuasive.  Skills for communication will be taught and suggestions for improving efficacy will be provided.

This section includes, in addition to lecture materials, an actual “mock deposition” using a realistic (but hypothetical) medical chart to demonstrate, with actual cross examination, how effective communication makes a better (and more persuasive) witness.  It is anticipated that the risk manager and/or defense counsel will utilize the suggestions to assist witnesses in enhancing and improving witness skills in pending cases.
